Knits Kolossus
Ok so here at The SEWING Society, we focus mainly on sewing, but I figure that we (the makers) are going to be interested in fashion in general, and other handicrafts - in this case KNITTING!
I personally LOVE to knit, in fact, I think I learnt to knit before how to sew! My Nanna was a big knitter, crocheter and embroiderer and, as a child, I watched her in fascination as she created beautiful things from yarn and thread, and pestered her to teach me!
The click-clack of the needles and the relatively slow process makes it quite relaxing and mindful, and as the season turns, you can usually find me nose down, scrolling Ravelry looking for the latest pattern releases.
Knitspiration
It just so happens that statement knits are having their moment in fashion (yayyyy!) Mostly neutrals with little hints of colour. The main elements are: the bigger and bolder the better!, lots of textures, oversized cables, and bulky yarns.
A little round-up of designer offerings and some patterns to inspire you too.

Learn to Knit
If you would like to learn to knit but have no idea where to start, there are heaps of step-by-step youtube tutorials and lots of yarn brands have free “how to’s” on their websites. There are more and more DIY knitting companies popping up that specialize in kits for beginners that include everything you need to create a completed item.
