Swooning to the max over Bridgerton
As well as being in love with the dreamy Duke (ummm hello Regé-Jean Page), we are totally crushing on the amazing costumes in the lastest Netflix drama, Bridgerton. Emmy Award-winning costume designer Ellen Mirojnik, shared that her team of 238 people created 7,500 pieces for a total of 5,000 costumes for the show. The wardrobe, created over five months, was a modernised reflection of the 19th-century Regency period, with more than a handful of gowns, hats, jackets, and more!
I always thought I should have been born during Regency England sigh… So, in an attempt to bring 1813 to 2021 I’ve put together a range of Bridgerton-vibe patterns that give a nod to the era without being “costumey” so we can all have a little bit of Bridgerton in our wardrobes - how delightful! …..hmm I wonder what Mrs Whistledown would say?…
The Ladies
Lace trimmed, silk floor-length gowns (and that’s just for lounging about at home!) Beautiful fabrics, textures and trims in pastel hues and florals, bows and embellishments as far as the eye can see.
A modern take sees a similarly feminine feel with a pretty colour pallet and floral prints, however sporting much shorter hemlines!
The Gentlemen
Puffy white shirts, silk ties, brocade waistcoats and velvet jackets with tails! Again, lots of textures and gorgeous opulent fabrics, however in dark, masculine, and regal tones.
Now this is where is gets more exciting from a 2021 point-of-view. Many more pattern options for women in the “gentlemen’s” styling.
